Lake County receiving million from state government as migrants seek refuge in the county

A U.S. Border Patrol agent apprehends migrants who surrendered to him after crossing the Rio Grand River in El Paso Texas on March 18, 2019. | Photo: Mani Albrecht / DVIDS Governor J.B. Pritzker announced he is awarding local governments, including Lake County, with more than $41 million in funding for supporting migrants being sent to the Chicago area. Pritzker announced the $41.5 million in award funding on Friday. The funds will help municipalities provide direct services to asylum-seeking migrants.
