Nurses seeking an advanced degree to become a nurse practitioner in areas like family practice, mental health or different areas of gerontology, can find it through several new programs at the University Center of Lake County, with potential scholarships available. Myra Gaytan-Morales, the executive director and dean of the University Center, said the consortium-based organization of 12 universities will be offering new master's degree programs leading toward a career as a nurse practitioner early next year.
